(30-GW Renewable Energy Park at Gujarat's Kutch)
On 15 December 2020, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of several development projects in Gujarat including a desalination plant (the process of removing salt from seawater.), hybrid (a mixture) renewable energy park and a fully automated milk processing and packaging plant. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani was present on the occasion.
(Hybrid Renewable Energy Park)
Hybrid :- a thing made by combining two different elements; a mixture.
Renewable Energy :- Renewable energy is useful energy that is collected from renewable resources.
Renewable energy includes solar, hydro and wind energy. नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा में सौर, जल और पवन ऊर्जा शामिल हैं। The most popular renewable energy sources currently are :- Solar energy, Wind energy, Hydro energy, Tidal energy (ज्वारीय ऊर्जा), Geothermal energy (भूतापीय ऊर्जा), Biomass etc.
:- The 30-GW renewable energy park at Kutch, Gujarat is billed as the largest of its kind in the world.
:- The project is in line with the Government of India's vision to install 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2022 and is of national importance.

Location of the project :- The project site is located close to the Indo-Pak border between Khavda village and Vighakot.

World's largest Floating Solar Plant at Omkareshwar Dam, Madhya Pradesh :- Key features, significance and other details
Why in News?
The World's largest Floating solar energy project is to be constructed at Omkareshwar dam on Narmada river and will be operational by 2023.
About the World's largest Floating Solar Plant :-
(1) It would be a 600 MW plant based on utilizing solar energy.
(2) The plant would be located on Omkareshwar dam in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
(3) The panels are capable to adjust their position automatically when the water levels of the dam are low.
(4) The project will be requiring an investment of 410 million dollars which is equivalent to INR 30 billion.
(5) Three agencies namely International Finance Corporation, World Bank and Power Grid would be providing aid for the project.
(6) India has completed the primary feasibility (probability) study of the project in collaboration with the World Bank.
(7) The project is likely to begin generation of power by 2022-23.
(8) The floating solar plant would be designed in a way to withstand strong waves and floods while it would continue to generate solar power at the same time.
What is Floating Solar Plant?
A floating solar plant refers to an installation of solar power production that is mounted on a structure floating on a body of water. It may typically be on an artificial basin or a lake.
Significance (महत्व) :-
(1) No land required :- The project is mainly advantageous as they do not consume much land.
(2) Environment friendly

:- UP government clears state's first floating solar power plant on Rihand Dam. It will be the first water surface floating solar power plant of Uttar Pradesh and biggest in the country.
:- India ranks third in Asia and fourth in the world in terms of solar power production. (December 2020)
:- The biggest solar power plant in India at present in term of power generation is Badhla Solar Park.
